Carlos D. Malvestutto, MD, MPH is the Medical Director of the Family AIDS Clinic and Education Services (FACES) program at Nationwide Children's Hospital where he started the FACES PrEP and Hepatitis C clinics. He is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He has broad experience in the clinical management of HIV and its comorbidities and is a clinical investigator in the OSU AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. His clinical research focuses on cardiovascular complications of HIV. Other clinical interests include HIV Prevention and Hepatitis C treatment. Dr. Malvestutto completed his BS in Biology at Yale University in 1996 and his MPH at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2000. He graduated from Ponce School of Medicine (Ponce, Puerto Rico) in 2005 and was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society during his third year. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY in 2008 and Infectious Disease fellowship training at the New York University Medical Center in New York, NY in 2010. For his research on cardiovascular complications of HIV he was awarded the Michael Saperstein Medical Scholar Award by the NYU SOM Department of Medicine in 2011. He is also a recipient of the 2015 AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) Minority HIV Investigator Mentoring Program Award. Dr. Malvestutto is a core investigator in the protocol team of the NHLBI/NIAID funded Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV (REPRIEVE) and is a member of the ACTG's End-Organ Disease/ Inflammation Transformative Science Group. Dr. Malvestutto is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. He is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), the HIV Medical Association (HIVMA) and the International Antiviral Society (IAS-USA).
