Christian Takayama, MD received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Harbor-UCLA where he served as Chief Resident and resident director of the Harbor-UCLA Family Medicine Free Clinic. After residency he completed an HIV Fellowship through the USC Pacific AIDS Educational Training Center (PAETC). He continues to work for the PAETC as an Assistant Clinical Professor of HIV Medicine with the Keck School of Medicine at USC, teaching residents and community physicians about HIV testing, diagnosis, and management. He served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center, and Ryan-White funded clinic. He also practices at the APLA Health & Wellness Center, as well as the Rand Schrader Infectious Disease Health and Research Center, the largest publicly funded HIV clinic in Los Angeles. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and as an HIV-Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Takayama is a fluent Spanish-speaker, born and raised in Lima, Peru. He often travels to South America to provide primary care as well as HIV care.
